The West African Crowned Crane live in flocks of a hundred or more, when not in the breeding season. These cranes are highly social and will pair off usually for life, assume joint responsibility for offspring
They stamp on the ground with our feet as they walk, It seems odd but they have good reason. They stamp on the ground to make the bugs jump, then eat them before they fall.

One of the most beautiful of all cranes and the only crane which will roost in trees. The spectacular dances performed by the adults are not strictly connected with reproductive behavior but are also an expression of joy.
